Didn’t I say weeks ago that Ryan Gosling was the patron saint of Derby? What more proof do you need?
Hey Girl…Roller Derby is here!
Sur des rives lointaines... On Distant Shores...: WE NEED YOU !
Alors…
The new squad

Spotted on morning train- The New York Shock Exchange! Great logo for a men’s roller derby team, apparently.
my plans
Paparazzi catch me reffing men’s derby again.
This was the Dallas Deception vs PVRD Dirty Dozen consolation bout.
Absolutley nothing was on the line this bout except pride and love of derby. PVRD was playing with 9 and then was down to 8 when one player fouled out.
This was one of the most epic bouts it’s ever been my pleasure to jam ref. Both teams brought it so hard and with such good sportspersonship. I loved the energy both these teams brought.
My opinions on men’s derby!
I think it’s awesome.
I don’t understand why some people are so against it. Roller derby will always be mainly about the women, and will always be about female empowerment, but it will also always be about acceptance. Why get angry when the guys love our sport so much that they want a tiny piece of it?
It’s damn fun to watch, too.
This is the New York Shock Exchange. Right after winning the first ever MRDA championships. They had their first loss earlier this year and came right back to take it all back again.
The last 4 games of the Championships were some of the most exciting nail-biters I have ever seen. The bar has been set insanely high for next year by the 6 teams who played this past Saturday.
I’m proud to be part of this organization and to know most of the amazing dudes that are also a part of this crazy thing. I’m so glad that almost 5 years ago I tagged along to ref a game and got to see my first men’s game.
(also check out that tumblr hottie in the green tights, woo!)
Spork of Titan: It's time for you to quit hating on Men's Rollerderby
It’s time for you to quit hating on Men’s Rollerderby
There. I said it.
It’s kind of fun and tongue in cheek to laugh at how Rollerderby is the only sport where the Men’s side is looked down upon by the women’s side.
But yunno what, it’s time to get over it. Men’s rollerderby has arrived.
I just got back from officiating at the Men’s National Championship tournament and it was amazing. This tournament was as exciting as any of the WFTDA regionals this year.
The men’s teams have really elevated their game this year. Every bout I worked or watched, even the consolation bouts, were full of my three favorite things: heart, skill and strategy.
Men’s rollerderby is no longer an also-ran of teams doing this their spare time between refereeing WFTDA or laying down the track for women to skate on. These teams have workedand it shows. I loved helping out as an official but I also loved watching every single bout I got to sit for.
Tired of blowouts? Every bout I was in the stands for was a nailbiter all the way to the end.
Think the men aren’t playing a sophisticated game? Go to DNN and watch the chess match taking place in the first 10 minutes of Magic City vs NYSE.
Men’s Rollerderby has arrived. I’m celebrating the level of play every team brought to the tournament.
Here’s a photo of us skating out for the championship bout.
